Bounce that ass!

Last thursday night I headed to Republic to check out the Bounce show featuring Big Freddia and Sissy Nobby. Great show, great vibe, pics speak for themselves. Recently created a gallery on my website with a collection of bounce show photos check it here. Also stay tuned for info about the new 10th Ward Buck book coming out in January "The Definition of Bounce: Between Ups and Downs in New Orleans" featuring 3 great photos of mine from a really fun Buck show last year at Allways lounge.

Anti Gravity October: Debauche Photos Featured

Erica Stavis Photography featured in Anti- Gravity cover story this moth. It was only a matter of time until AG decided to feature this amazing New-Orleans based vodka toting band Debauche...which I had shot a few times in the past year.

According to Yegor, the lead singer who I happened to see a few nights ago shooting pool at R bar, they have a bunch of performances lined up. Check em on the web and in October AG issue.

Hazardous scenes = your equipment getting the shit kicked out of it!

The Gogol Bordello show was packed last night, the perfect opportunity for some great shots from the eye of the storm. So naturally I was in the pit getting some great stuff and all of a sudden my lens fell off my camera. At first I did what anyone does in the middle of a crazy mosh pit, I put my arms out and started looking around frantically hoping everyone around me would start realizing I dropped something important and help me look for it.

Well, it was just too freakin crazy and after a out 40 seconds someone looked at me and said "don't even think about it" I walked out thinking fuck! well it was bound to happen sooner or later after working in these kinds fo conditions for so long. I pushed my way off the dance floor, put my lens behind the front desk and went outside for a minute. Then I was like, well maybe now I can get that 2.8 lens I want, and went back in to dance. About 10 minutes in I saw someone holding up a fist with my lens in it. I grabbed and was like Ahhhhhh! amazing, but what does this thing actually look like after being jumped on a millions times? I walked back out, got my camera body and mounted it! It actually worked. My lens filter was off and hood missing but it actually still worked. Anyway I got right back in and started shooting again. Jeez what a night!

Birth of a Muse: Kim in her studio

Over the past few months I've been collaborating with artist Kim Bernadas who has been working on a project funded by the Art Council titled "Birth of a Muse"

I've been shooting stills and video documenting the process of creating the sculpture which will eventually be cast in bronze and placed in Coliseum Square. Its been great capturing the energy of this exciting project and working in Kim's gorgeous home studio.

Between Heidi, Kim and myself helping to develop the birth of a muse we've got some super girl power going. Keep posted for more shots/vids as the project progresses.
